about

A song of loss, of grief, of holding on, of letting go, and ultimately of celebration.

I wrote this as the result of a Movember challenge I put out to my friends. This is the one and only song that came out of that challenge, and it is dedicated to Shannon and the friend she lost.

lyrics

I heard a bell
Ring into my head
I thought of you
Words that you said
"After we're gone we'll see it clear"
I should rest in hope
Put off my fear
But I give up
I just want you here.

Headed for silence now
I watched you grow
We learned a lot together
More than we know
Lost in a dark wood I was
When I heard the news
Such simple conversation
What could I lose?

Sharp pain dilemma
Remind or forget
I felt your name surround me
Blanket or net?

It's not your fault that I see
The shade of places I'd be
The ghosts of faces I'd see
If you were still within reach
If you were still at arm's length
I close my eyes and I think

I'm lighting arrows for you
I pray my aim to be true
They're flying over the water
The water carrying you

This is where you and I part
You left your key in my heart

And I'll watch it burn
Till the sun returns
And I'll sing your name
Till the wind acclaims
You were here
You inspired
And you shared of your fire
So that all of the light
That you left could ignite
And burn bright

about

Phillip Le Ross British Columbia

My name is Phil and I'm a singer-songwriter living on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. I'm also a husband, a father, and a municipal worker. Somewhere in between all that, I try my best to follow the inner pull that urges on the next new song. My musical interests are varied and this reflects itself in the type of songs I write.
